I have 2 grand worth of credits with American to use by Nov 5th this year. Trying to maximize my bang for the buck for my wife and myself to travel somewhere. It’ll get us two round trips to Hawaii but in not 100% sold on going there this summer.

Any suggestions on good places to go to use all of the credits...? Also considering going somewhere close 1st class.

Grazie

I booked roundtrip from ATL to Tokyo this past September for about $1200 each.

Are you set on something tropical? Also, what is more important... distance/location or class of service?

Location. Class isn’t super important.

Not dead set on tropical but the last trip was Italy and tropical is what I have looked into so far for this trip.

Man for $2k, or basically $1k per ticket you can go a ton of places in coach on AA. Are you flying from MSY?

Yeah we are. I know, it pretty awesome but it’s why I’m here asking trying to get suggestions on how to max perform it in either location and distance or class. Trying to figure out which would be better.

In May you can easily get to Hawaii. I love the place but would avoid Oahu (Honolulu). What about something like Greece? If you want to be a really big baller and can afford the hotels since you have free flights do the Maldives or Fiji. I will say the longer flights I take the more I am inclined to pay for first class. It sucks to not get sleep on long flights.

Do you have set dates? You can do South Pacific cheaper than that for sure.

Where do you most want to go? You’re trying to maximize value, instead think of what will make you happiest. 2 shorter flights during the year to different places you really want to visit might be a better thing than one destination.

What’s your budget besides airfare? Chicago and San Diego can both be done on the cheap side....not so for Fiji. Greece can be affordable, depending on season/specific islands.

No real budget set. I’ll weigh options side by side and determine best bang for the buck.

Again with the value premise. This isn’t a bargain hunt, it’s a want not a need. Pick a destination and many ppl on this board can offer tips. But you’ve got to make up your own mind. Someone else shouldn’t need to convince you that your pick is good.

I hear you but I have seen posts from time to time where there are screaming deals on flights to a particular location and time of year. I can be heavily influenced to go to one of those locations purely based off of that

However, I’ll roll with Hawaii in mid June.

Starting to think Kauai in mid June for 8 days. Might do half north shore and half south but heard north would be better. Seem like some decent options on VRBO and Air BnB. Just a question of where to stay now, town/location wise.
