How about this scenario:
Wife is in depths of alcoholism. Marriage is rocky but not close to ending. Wife has one night stand.
Wife gets into treatment and begins road down sobriety. 6 years into good sobriety marriage is much better. In her mind the question keeps coming up - do I tell or not. On the advice of her sponsor she tells with the reasoning being “if you accept me I want you to know everything”
The discovery of that is shocking, stunning and is one of the worst pieces of news you could ever hear.
Has anyone here ever done anything when they were drunk that they otherwise wouldn’t. On the other hand, a vow was broken. Then again, things are going well.
Is the answer crystal clear as to what you would do in this scenario? I lived this.
(28 years later I’m still married and my wife now has 33 years of sobriety. Still, next to my fathers untimely death one month before the birth of my first child this is the most difficult thing I have ever had to deal with. I’ll say this, I do trust her but the hurt never completely goes away).
