Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
When they put out a message that the first event on Friday would start at 5am, I knew we were looking at a longish run.

Event 1: 7K run

frickers. It’s a 7K since this is the 7th year for Wodapalooza and they are starting at 5am because we will be running through downtown Miami; dodging the sleeping bums and their piles of shite along the sidewalk. 3 years ago they had a 5K and ran it during the afternoon and the athletes had to dodge pedestrians strolling downtown in Miami.

I run only one 10K per year in the Crescent City Classic and I usually do it for the free beer, which leads me to the event 2 release..

Event 2: 1 mile Wreck Bag run (aka heavy assed sandbag)

The one year I compete and some fricker who loves to run programs this shit:

I’m also sure we will run several events on Trueform machines as well.

re: Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
Guido Trinidad sold Wodapalooza this last year. He’s still a big part of it, but no idea who is programming this in 2018.

Several mainstays who have normally been in Miami, have backed out, and the rest have gone the Team route.

3 time repeat winner Noah Ohlsen went Team this year.

I’m betting Garrett Fisher wins the Men’s elite title with Alex Anderson out and every major entrant going Team.

Hopefully they release some awesome workouts for the other 7-8 events or next weekend will suck a bag of dicks.

Finally a workout that isn’t running...

Event 3:
9 Hang PCs, 9 Front Squats, 9 S2OH
6 Hang PCs, 6 Front Squats, 6 S2OH
3 Hang PCs, 3 Front Squats, 3 S2OH

Increasing weight: 155, 175, 195 in my division.

One guy has crap shoulder mobility so the last weight may frick him. I may do all of them at 195.

re: Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
I dicked around today and did...

9 S2OH at 155
Waited 30 secs
6 S2OH at 175
Waited 30 secs
3 FS and 3 S2OH at 195

Total time with the waits was 1:42.

I think I could have shaved my wait time down to 20 secs before the 195 lifts. 3 Hang Cleans at 195 shouldn’t take more than 20 sec total.

So.. 1:32. The first 9 HC and 9 FS shouldn’t be more than 40 secs.

Looking at a 2:15 time in that event, but I may rearrange to reduce transitions from 8 to 6 and save another 10 secs and get close to sub 2.

One of my guy has a bad front rack position due to shitty left shoulder mobility and another doesn’t have good S2OH overall strength.

Am I a dick for limiting them to benefit the team? And I’m not talking about doing a shitload more lifts, I have a plan where each will be in hitting 17-18 reps a piece but I’ll shoulder more of the heavier loads due to their S2OH limitations at 175 and 195.

Already hearing complaints from one about me doing their lifts.

How are y’all breaking it down?

Without knowing strengths

Member 1: 9 HC, 9 FS

re: Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
I was thinking...

M1: 9 HC, 4 FS and M2: 5 FS, 9 S2OH (155)
M1: 6 HC and M3: 6 FS and 6 S2OH (175)
M2: 3 HC and M3: 3 FS and 3 S2OH (195)

5 total transitions and hitting the first S2OH at each weight as a thruster.

M1 isn’t a good S2OH lifter and M2 has the front rack issues.

I did all 18 S2OH movements in 34 secs today and the other 8 secs was a PC and 3 FS at 195.

M1 is doing 19 reps
M2 is doing 17 reps
M3 is doing 18 reps

That’s a lot of transitions lumy. I assume most of the top teams will go 1 person per round huh?

re: Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
Maybe. The total transitions in your example is 4; including moving to the next weight.

When I was there 4 years ago when they did this workout, the top scaled Indy time was ~40 secs and those weights were lighter: 135, 155, 175.

I know my M1 guy would hit the wall and start slowing on the FS and definitely be slow on the S2OH.

..and it’s really only 3 transitions with a new lifter starting the new weight where there is already a transition from one weight to the next.

If my partners didn’t have their limitations, I’d defintely go one on all at 155, one on all at 175 and me on the 195.

Hopefully we are not in the 1st heat and we can watch and make any adjustments right before we go.

ETA: But I’ll have the bad shoulder mobility guy do the round of 175 and see how fast he goes, and ask the crap S2OH guy do 9/9 at 155 and get his time.

Kenny Powers is the poster child of non-athlete with the ability to throw a baseball hard.

The 9/9 at 155 was way too slow: 1:04.

He could probably shave 10 secs, at best, in the comp. I did the 9 S2OH in 15 secs.

1:10ish for the full 9/9/9 is dragging ass. Need it to be 1:00, tops.

We will have to go 9/4 and 5/9, transitioning in the middle to speed it up.

And then tackle the other reps/weights like I described earlier.

re: Wodapalooza started releasing events for next weekend in Miami.
A few more workouts...

Event 4:

2RFT 12 min cap
24 synchro snatches at 75 (2 lift while one waits to switch in if needed)
36 Jumping MUs (1 at a time.. switch as needed)
42 Cal Assault with 2 holding the 75lb barbells OH while they bike

Jumping MUs are easy, but they have yet to say what the ring height will be. My guess is 6’ off the floor at a min.

The snatches are light, but staying synchro will be key.

AB cals will suck. Someone will feel like arse when R2 begins.

Event 5:

2 RFT 24 min cap
200M Swim each as a team
20 100lb sandbag cleans
100 synchro Squats
100M sandbag carry (bear hug)

We have a weak swimmer, but we can start on the cleans while he finishes. Hopefully he arrives when we finish to go right into the squats.

20 synchro-pullups
200 ft sled push
20 synchro-pullups
200 ft sled push

Event 7:
40 Burpee Box Jump Overs
80 Synchro Toes to Bar
120 wall balls

Event 8:
Athlete 1 & 2
90 Hand Release Pushups (1 at a time)
60 Tandem DL at 225

Athlete 2 & 3
30/30 DB Squat Snatches at 40lbs (1 at a time)
200 DUs (100 for each athlete)

Athlete 1 & 3

I'm athlete 2 in the last workout. Luckily I don't have to carry my ~200lb partners.

There will be at least one more workout.

They always hold 1 or 2 in reserve to be announced after the event begins.

I expect a max snatch to be thrown in there.
