Wife and I are going next month. We want to be in a good area where we don't spend too much time going back and forth to the hotel.

She's gonna want to shop and I'm gonna want to ease around and go to some cool bars and restaurants.

TIA

The cool bars/hotels aren't near the shopping. Nashville is very much a driving city and not really known for great shopping. I'd probably stay at the Thompson in the Gulch and Uber around if it were me.

Price range? The main shopping areas are:

Green Hills - the mall is located there,
Hillsboro Village/21st Ave,
12 South, and
The Gulch

Union Station Hotel is badass if you can afford it.

I agree with the Renaissance. We really enjoyed our stay there and you could walk to a lot of neat places in the vicinity.

Honestly I was impressed with the Hilton Garden Inn.
