I ran the Baton Rouge Beach Half today, and my feet were water-logged for the last pat of the race. There was a stiff dew for the race and along with my sweat it was difficult on the feet.

I assume there is a sock that you guys could recommend to keep my feet dry? Specific shoes, maybe?

Other than changing socks, there really isn’t anything

I wear swiftwick socks that are great, but they will still get soaked. i just lube my feet up with body glide where I might get blister and deal with it.

Fair enough. I can only imagine how bad id be fricked on a full marathon. Prolly would need to set a pair of dry socks/shoes halfway. Is that common?

Nike and you have to toss some foot powder in shoes and on feet before hand.

I prefer super thin polyester dress socks..... But I also have bought some thin bamboo socks recently that are awesome..... A thin sock doesn't soak up sweat like a thicker sock.

I use a thin coating of a product called Trail toes. It's petroleum based so it help prevent friction which causes blisters. Also, it repells water so while your shoe/sock might bewet damp, your foot really isn't impacted unless your crossing streams or running in a downpour.

I know in some triathlon races they allow a "special needs" bag at the half way point of the bike and run where people sometimes put extra socks just in case. But never heard of it for a Marathon. Typically they are scheduled in lower humidity months though, so it's not as big a deal. in the summer, I can leave wet foot prints from soaking through shoes after a 6 mile run. This time of year it's not nearly as much of a problem.

I use to run 70-75 miles a week and had the same problem along with blisters.

Did some research and found these online. Ordered 3 pair and havent gone back. Been about 2 years and still on same 3 pair. No more blisters or wet feet

In addition to the trial toes cream, I also use the socks linked in post above me here

They are very popular with the trail running crowd. I have 6 pairs. I did the 170 mile stage trail race/run that another poster mention on here. Only 5 blisters At the end. The injini socks were what most of the racers were using.

Friend ran her first full and it was raining. She had her husband meet her at some point and she changed socks and shoes.

Not really a big deal if you are just trying to finish, but that's technically against the rules and there are tons of Nazis out there about that stupid stuff. No outside help. Either carry, or take from provided aid stations. Had a women trying to qualify for the Olympic trials get disqualified in the Louisana Marathon a few years ago after doing food from someone she knew on a bike. She deserved it though competing at that level.

Yes and they'll catch you and fine you and ban you from racing that race again -- happened was it last year at Louisiana? It as an Elite. They're not going to do anything to a regular runner.

eta didn't read your entire post before posting.
