Watched the highlights of the '71 game at home the following year. Loved the field, the alternating 'greens' every 5 yards, the big LSU in the endzone, the opposing team name in the other. Even liked the midfield design. Would not mind seeing that again. 2 classic uniforms that to this day have changed very little.

I prefer the base gold, the stripe width & pattern (jersey, pants both), the numerical adornment helmets of 1971 over the current

I was overseas in the fall of 1970 (courtesy of Uncle Sam) and an LSU buddy and I could get no information on the game until finally (maybe a week later) we got our hands on an International Herald Tribune newspaper which told the story of the game. 3-0. The sportswriter was in awe of LSU players, and wrote, "like warriors of old, they were carried off the field on their shields."
I didn't have any LSU colors to wear but i would have worn them under my camo.
