It would be GOLDEN to sign Matt Corral.

Seems to me, he may be a little better than Brennan based on sr highlights; definitely more athletic. Get him !

If McMillan transfers the qb room will be thin. We need a qb to sign badly in this class. I wish they would move on from Rogers. I don’t believe he will flip. Offer Baldwin ASAP and go after Foster hard. If we lose on those two then press for corral and take a chance

There's a Fat Bert joke in there somewhere.

Kudos on the word play.

TheHat7- no doubt. Going to be irked if we do the "all eggs in tiny basket studded with spikes" thing again.

You can’t have that at any position really, but especially at quarterback. You’ve got to know your starting QB isn’t gonna get suspended the week of the SEC Championship game. I’m out. Don’t want.

Heisman lock Baker Mayfield says hello. You wouldn't have wanted him this year?

I think you just have to take it on a case by case basis and not make blanket assumptions. Also, you have to build in contingencies (something Miles had NOT done with RP). We have Brennan and Narcisse already, so it's not like Corral would be anointed anything. Maybe, for this year, it would be smarter to take someone a little more low risk, but damn...I loved that kid's highlight tape and would love to see him in P&G. He's everything you want from a quarterback in this day and age. He's accurate, has a good arm and is mobile.

I'm tired of recruiting the Rogers/Foster types who just chuck it downfield to receivers wide open by 10 yds and then when they get into college, can't hit the broad side of a barn or read defenses.

Corral is actually throwing it into windows with timing. That's what I want. If him fighting scares the pussies, find another one who does that on the field and doesn't get in trouble off of it. Otherwise get Corral.

And his case may not be anything close to Corral's case. Baker isn't disliked by teammates. Corral supposedly makes enemies.

From this 247 article, it doesn't even sounds like he was kicked out of that school. This makes it seem like he left voluntarily.

quote:

Multiple sources tell us Corral got into a fight with 16-year-old Tristan Gretzky at a high school basketball game earlier this month in front of a large group of people. We're told there was tension brewing between the two for a while and it came to a head at the basketball game. Corral transferred out of Oaks Christian days after the incident and posted on Twitter that the school was "biased towards money."

You have any links regarding the suspensions? I can't find anything online about them.

247's guys talked about recently when many folks asked about Corral, they said they dont see an offer coming his way because of his character and past issues. Remember USC literally dropped him because they simply didnt want to put up with him either.

The Kelly QB from Ole Piss (had character issues) says hey. Seemed to work out well.

Foster isn’t that “type” he’s got command poise accuracy and can play under Center or go shotgun. He’s got good mechanics Minus a few basic issues and imo Is a good fit for a Canada offense

I guess the question is "is he worth the gamble". The kid looks to have the skills with mobility, accuracy and arm strength. Considering we aren't a typical landing spot for top tier QB talent, do we gamble a recruiting spot on a boom or bust at a position of need.

Considering the kid has limited options he may jump at the chance. You sit him down and give him the tough love/second chance pitch. I think it's worth it and the change of scene may make a difference.

Simply from a strategy standpoint, not knowing jack crap about his real attitude, I'd say yes because we will have a rsFR and SO QB that we have high degrees of confidence in already. IF you are going to take the risk, this is the year.

Only applies IF no Foster or Rogers IMHO. But that's why you offer after Dec 22nd (first signing period).

I agree with everything you said, but Corral is signing in December and is an early enrollee.
