Why the hell are the starters playing 30 plus minutes in preseason?

They have 4 preseason games this year and a lot of new faces. Other teams stars are playing close to 30 as well.

Agreed. I thought that, after the first half, they'd roll out the starting lineup for ~5 minutes in Q3 and be done. Maybe Gentry was just pissed about how that time went and kept them going. I get that Gentry wants to get the Rondo/Jrue/AD/Boogie group going, but I think they showed enough in the first half to still shut them down despite their poor play in Q3.

Did not want the bad taste to settle in.

5 minutes of great play would have given basis for future.

They need as much "practice" together as they can get before the games start counting. A fast start is a "must" for this team (and for the coaches/management).

It's organized practice it's not preseason. Not too many cuts have to be made it's all about jelling and getting comfortable with each other

Wouldn't it be nice to not start 10-15 games back the first quarter of the season.

They haven't played a game in 4 months or so. I think they can handle it.

It was the only home game of the preseason, so why not give the fans something to enjoy while also seeing how quickly this new group gels together. 69 first half points was a good start.

Col flagg,
Low blow.
The warriors loss was not worth 11 games just because they won by 45 points.

Jabarkus, let me ask you this question. What is the purpose of the preseason?

My answer to that question is to allow the team "practice games". Therefore it allows a coach and team to experiment with lineups, substitutions, in game adjustments, seeing new players play, situational basketball etc. If you don't work on that in the preseason, then you are working on that in games that matter. And I for one want to win every game. I don't want us to start 2-8 and then start to figure this shite out

If that is the purpose of pressason why aren't you seeing other teams play their stars that many minutes?

the Pels are poorly run organization, so some merit to this sentiment.

same time, they have new pieces, old players in new roles, and, already, injury problems. all while trying to install new systems on both sides of the ball (they aren't switching everything with Cousins on the floor). makes some sense to try to get as many reps as is reasonable during preseason

The Pels played 6 presesason games last year. This year they have 4 and the coaching staff is treating it like 3 because of Memphis being the last preseason game and first regular season opponent.

AD played 98 minutes last preseason. This season he's played 85 and is probably done. The people that are acting like he's being exposed to injury risk at a higher than normal rate just aren't doing the math.
