I don't hunt Deer much these days, but I do spend quite a bit of time on public land chasing other species. I can't tell you how many times I have come across large deer moving around in the middle of the day after the candyasses have packed it in.

Some people just don't get it. 99% of the pressure on public property happens in the early morning or late evening. Those deer (the old ones at least) figure that stuff out.

Not to mention how Swamp deer basically live in the water like a fish, but that's a whole different topic.

Cold day with a constant wind I'll hunt all day especially during the rut.

Depends where I am hunting, if it is Canada, Kansas or Nodak I will sit all day. If it is hunt in piney woods I will come out for lunch.

For me it depends on the time of year and patterns.
Right now, all of the movement in my areas are right before dark because it's so damn hot. I'm only hunting evenings and I don't get to my stand until 5pm.
Sitting in your stand all day while it's hot and there's little to no chance of midday movement only adds more unnecessary human scent to the area so I stay out.
Late October I start to get more morning movement so I'll hunt til 9:30-10 in the morning and then from 3:30- dark:30 in the evening.
During the rut is the only time I'll sit all day.

Unless I am doing some sort of work it is an all day hunt for me. I have no choice... my deer stand is also where I sleep.
