If this is such an issue and they feel so strongly about it, I think gun control should be the top plank in their platform.

But it's not. And it won't be. And it wasn't when they had total control of all facets of government.

Because they don't really care about it. They just like to virtue signal to their lib base.

They are just like republicans on healthcare. All talk, no action.

They care about it, but fear the politics.

You'd think clinging to what little power they have left would be top priority, but they don't act like it.

Dems complaining about gun control laws is the same as Republicans complaining about Obamacare.

Both use the issue for politics but didn't do shite when they had the chance.

Dems and Obama had 2 years to act if they had issues with guns. They didn't do shite.

Republicans are doing the same now with just about everything.

I saw Hillary on tv bitching about republicans not taking gun control seriously.
Bill/ Hillary + Obama = 16 years of Democratic control. Yet no meaningful gun control was passed. Who do the Dems have to blame?
This is all a political game.

Because their politics can only survive on fear and divisiveness. They know that if they stand a chance of passing any kind of gun regulation it would have to be after a tragedy.

"Gun Control" is a misnomer. I'm a lib that hunts and enjoys the smell of gunpowder. Only the far left chants gun control. A majority of my dem friends believe that responsible gun ownership and the 2nd is a vital part of our American inheritance. Now bump stocks are a different issue. Keep them legal? Sure. But only to those that can pass certain requirements. Still won't stop what happened. That dude went flipshit crazy. Can't stop full blown melt down.

As a libtard, I believe that rifles and shotguns are for protecting your property and feeding your family.

However I see few good uses for handguns and assault weapons, other than for entertainment - or for killing people, if you're working in uniform.

A rancher nearby does use an AK-47 to pick off herds of angry wild hogs that rip up his property.

But I think that he's one of the few civilians I've met who has such a weapon for reasons other than entertainment.

They only use it as a talking point and as an election issue. Just grandstanding.

Once again they will put together some kind of 50 page bill to vote on with 1 or 2 items in it about about restricting gun purchases to people with mental issues, etc...

The actual bill will be about some increased spending, some social program, etc... that they know Republicans will not support. It will fail. Instead of CNN, MSNBC, NBC, etc... talking about the bill and why it didn't pass, they will come out and say Republicans and the NRA didn't want to restrict gun sales to mentally ill people so they voted against the bill.

Oh so predictable.

It is a priority for them, but they know that most Americans do not support it. This is why they try to push it during times of grief, they know the best chance of getting support for gun control is during highly emotional times when Americans aren't thinking straight.
