The next 2 games need to be furious practice sessions

We're crap right now. I think that's public knowledge. I do think some of the issues are fixable and these tuneup games are critical.

Things I'm hoping they work on

- lining up and sealing the edge on D
- clean up the penalties
- throwing on first down vs relying on run to setup throws
- more work for WRs on short passes
- slowing the game down a bit on offense; play to the personnel

Stuff like being more physical, protecting and tackling better can't be fixed overnight.

There's no playbook to save for the SEC teams right now. It's time to take control or else a long season awaits.

There's never a playbook to save. Run the damn offense, even against cupcakes. If we don't practice it in games, we won't have enough experience against better teams. Practice can't simulate real game experience.

Run the damn offense, all of it.

Yeah, I agree. It's that time of season. No holding back now.

Except unlike practice, I don't think they allow shortened games.

The worst part is we'll learn basically nothing for 3 weeks, unless Brennan plays more snaps than Etling. Which he won't.

Expect ball control football. Lots of running and very little throwing. Anyone expecting them to come out throwing is fooling themselves.

The penalties are what I'll be looking at the most the next two games. That's something any disciplined, well coached team should be able to work out regardless of the opponent. The others have a lot to do with the will of the opponent and what they're trying to do rather than the team simply maintaining focus

Penalties are definitely fixable but so is guys out of position or not lining up correctly. Blown coverages are almost always a result of that. Even if you don't eliminate those mistakes, you can reduce them.

My fear is that we may be seeing them do just that. Gotta hope there's more to it but they've gotta show us more if they want us to believe it.

True. I guess the bottom line is we've got to play smarter and more focused across the board

If SU crowds LOS, I think MC will take advantage.....unless he starts sending a lead through gap.
His offense isn't built to run through walls like previous one.

His personell is not exactly built to throw the ball either.

He wasn't afraid to take some shots and att were only 18/gm prior attempt to play catch-up to MSU.
Could be wrong, but I don't think the next 2 opp will have staff too worried about D If LSU has a lead.
We'll see tonight.
