Los Angeles to host Olympics in 2028

The IOC put the rubber stamp on a pre-determined conclusion Wednesday, giving Paris the 2024 Games and LA the 2028 Games in a history-making vote.
The decision marks the first time the IOC has granted two Summer Olympics at once. It came after a year's worth of scrambling by IOC president Thomas Bach, who had only the two bidders left for the original prize, 2024, and couldn't bear to see either lose.

Time to fold up the Olympic tent...it was a nice Century-run...reviving an old relic of the past...that created scandal, national grandstanding, cheating, doping, bribery, half-mutant humans, birth defects, murder, espionage, conspiracy...because global pride was all wrapped up in who won a ping-pong game.
When the powers that be decided to re-introduce this global sporting event called the Olympics, they said the Olympics were good because they would prevent wars...well,
...that didn't happen. 20th century was the worst in the history of mankind with regards to war. The Olympics never fostered goodwill despite all their proclamations...just mistrust and accusations and scandal and hatred. Go figure, much-maligned countries will do anything to win for prestige...who would have thought? The fact that countries cared so much about the Olympics and winning which bankrupted half of the host nations...proves what a mistake they were.

frick it. I will have sold all of our property in LA county by then and be retired. I am glad I will not have to deal with that nightmare. I live 5 min from LAX and the 405/105 intersection and commuting would be a pain in the arse.

Why would they do that? There's tons of money to be made, ratings are still huge, and for two and a half weeks, ESPN basically shows arm wrestling and WNBA because they know the entire country will be watching the Olympics anyway.
