Madden 2018 Defense Question

I'm playing franchise mode and when on defense I play as a safety. I can't figure out how to get the user controlled defensive player to automoatocally drop into their zone or follow their man after the snap. This used to happen on its own in all other maddens. What am I doing wrong? It wouldn't be so bad if I could get the camera behind the defense.

I don't think it will if you're user controlling him. It may if you're on a lower difficulty but I'm not certain.
I play as the safety also and get burned a good amount by choosing the wrong direction while covering someone man-to-man.

Are you moving him before the snap? I'm pretty sure that if you pick the play and don't touch the controller afterwards, the cpu will take over. Also, if you're wanting to move him into the box and still follow his zone, move him and and click off him and then click back to him. As long as you don't move once you click back on him, I believe the cpu will take over as well.

Thanks. This must be new. I've been playing madden for years on all-madden and have never encountered this. I'll give this is a shot.

EA is lazy. all madden doesn't make the game harder, just pass defense impossible. defense is never thought about in development. they just have to program it to be playable.

Hold LB after the snap and the CPU will take over. Let go when you want to control the player.
