I have the Helix 7 but am still a baby learning all the shite it can do with it. I really like the side & down imaging; pretty clear

I have the 10 side imaging and love it. Takes a while to figure it out (figure out what you are looking at) but it's very user friendly.

I have a Helix 9 SI and love it, even though I barely know how to scratch the surface of its capabilities. I find it very easy to use and fairly intuitive menu setup.

What are the advantages of side imaging?

More pretty pictures... Seriously though, Not sure what purpose it serves in open water. I use it in canals and cuts to get detailed images of the bottom and sides.

Shows you what's on the sides of the boat, structurewise on the bottom
