A few years ago I built some 6x8 deer stands with studded insulated walls, and double pane glass windows. Mostly so I could hunt with my wife and three small children and contain all of the ruckus.

Anyhow, tomorrow night I am thinking about taking my sleeping bag and spending the night in the stand, waking up every couple of hours to check for hogs.

Is it safe to run a Mr. Buddy heater in there? Doesn't CO sink to the floor of the stand where I'll be sleeping? What say the OB?

Most of the Mr buddy heaters have Oxygen Depletion Sensor on them, but on the safe side just crack open one of slidein windows.

You could also buy a Battery operated Co2 sensor/alarm

I just had one today catch on fire. Scared the crap out of me. Had it hooked up on the left side to a regular propane bottle with a hose and I had a portable bottle hooked up on the righ side. The right side is what caught on fire. I almost burned down my shooting house before I could get it put out (had carpet on her floor). Never saw that before. Had another one I used for 4-5 years and never had a minutes problem out of it. This one is about a month old.

I would try to leave a crack in the door if you are going to sleep on the floor.

Plus put it away from the door which is where you should sleep, easy exit in case you wake up to a fire.

i doubt there is any way the stand is sealed well enough to smother you. I sleep in a camper with a burner going to keep us warm. I'd go for it!

carbon monoxide is only very slightly lighter than air, but would likely rise with the exhaust gasses from your heater. I personally would buy a carbon monoxide detector and lay it on the floor beside me while I slept just to be sure.
