Per Scott Kushner on Twitter. Leading candidates are rumored to be Pulaski (Baylor) and Burke (Tulane). I'm hoping for a package deal with a new coach too, preferably Babers.

You think that will happen? From what I understand, they wanted the new AD to be able to make the hire. Would that have been part of their negotiations with the new AD you think?

solid programs in football and basketball, but Tulane is different challenges and who knows if he'll even be allowed to do the job

Well Babers wasn't going to go to Tulane, so it's not like you missed out by not selecting the Baylor guy.

Tulane named Northern Iowa’s Troy Dannen its new athletic director on Wednesday afternoon.

Dannen, 48, has been Northern Iowa’s athletic director for eight years. In 2014, he was one of eight FBS and FCS ADs honored by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) as Under Armour AD of the Year.
The Panthers football team competes in the FCS and will play a quarterfinal playoff game this Saturday against Portland State. Their basketball team, which beat then-No.1-ranked North Carolina on Nov. 21, is coming off a year in which it went 31-4, won the Missouri Valley Conference and was seeded No. 5 in the NCAA tournament, losing in the round of 32 to Louisville.

Thats pretty impressive.

His first task will be to select a football coach to replace Curtis Johnson, who was fired Saturday after finishing a 3-9 season.
Rick Dickson, Tulane’s AD since 2000, announced his impending retirement in September. Dickson will stay on board through the end of May, but Dannen will handle the coaching search.

Thats the best part of it for Tulane.

Seems disappointing at first glance, to hire an FCS AD from a school in Iowa. But, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Like most on the Tulane boards are saying.

1. He is a break from Cowen & Dickinson
2. Reserving judgement for until after a football hire
