Growing up in the 80's, mainly radio rock/pop. In high school ('90-'94)I listened to radio country, Jimmy Buffett, and rap (Snoop, Dre, UGK). Was introduced to Jerry Jeff Walker in high school. College was mainly old country (Willie, Waylon, Merle), REK, and Jerry Jeff. After that, got more into the Texas country scene with Pat Green, Jack Ingram, and later Creager, Ragweed, Boland, Fowler, et al.
Now I listen to more of Americana type stuff like Todd Snider, Hayes Carll, Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams. Also really like some of the older Texas country stuff, and some newer stuff like Turnpike

Middle school- hard core rock: Slipknot, Rammstein, CKY, Nine Inch Nails, System of a Down
High School- rap and country: Every Lil Wayne song, and Every country artist. Also John Mayer...
Early College- EDM: Skrillex, Bassnectar, Pretty Lights, every one that presses play on a laptop that you could take drugs too and has loud bass and crazy lights.
Present- Phish Pandora station. Hands down best radio station out there: Grateful Dead, Allman Brothers, moe, Pink Floyd, Led Zepellin, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley, Widespread
My taste in music has changed drastically.

I basically went through the shittiest music before my enlightenment. In junior high I loved nickelback, Seether, Stained and all that shite. Then I went through my mainstream country stage in highschool and DMB at the end. Then Neil Young and Bob Dylan pulled me out of that and eventually Widespread and the Grateful Dead were my favorites and still are along with Phish. I'm just glad my eyes were opened.

All the way through high school, I loved G-Funk Rap, Grunge, Alternative Rock. I liked some pretty crappy bands that I don't care for or detest today, such as Nickelback. My taste really evolved a lot in college and thereafter. I started listening to more experimental stuff, prog, electronic, etc. I can say that college was the first time that I REALLY enjoyed music. A lot of that also had to do with having the freedom to go to see a lot of live Music, including Music Festivals.

in primary school I listened to top 40 radio
In middle school I listened to mostly late 90s early 2000s punk/pop rock (Blink 182, Greenday, Yellowcard, Sum 41, ect) until I discovered classic hard rock (Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Lynard Skynard, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, ect), and I had a Nirvana phase in 8th grade.
In high school, I continued to like both punk/pop and hard rock but started listening to heavy metal, 80s hair metal, and more grunge-esc music (Guns N Roses, Van Halen, AC/DC, Tool, Slayer, Alter Bridge, Audioslave, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, ect) I also discovered ska since some of my friends formed a ska band (Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, ect)
Early in college, I got into singer/songwriters, swamp pop, and The Beatles (Jackson Brown, James Taylor, Cosby stills & Nash, Van Morrison, Jim Croce, Jimmy Buffet, Rod Stewart, ect). I later moved into funk and New Orleans jazz (Tower of Power, Parliament Funkadelic, Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty, Earth Wind & Fire, Stevie Wonder, Soul Rebels, Dr. John, ect). Now, I'm on a zydeco/swamp pop bend (Geno Delafos, Rockin' Dopsie, Wayne Toups, ect)
Now, I'm just all over the place.
I still listen to all of the above, but I find that I listen to a lot less grunge and singer/songwriters and a lot more 80s metal, 90s punk/pop rock, and anything with horns.

You say that like its a bad thing.
Dudes a hell of a musician and songwriter. I'm hoping he starts doing tours with the trio, because I know they are doing an album.

I was conceived, born, and raised on Grateful Dead touring in the late 80s to mid 90s. Once Jerry passed in '95 (RIP) I jumped on Phish tour and have never looked back.

I've always liked to experiment and try out different sounds to try to develop my taste, but the blend of music that I listen to now has definitely shifted.
I started off listening to more classical music some between the ages of 7-13 or so. My mom made me pick a classical instrument, so at the time it wasn't actually developing my personal taste at the time. I am glad that I was exposed to that experience though.
When I was about 13 I started to develop my taste a little more on my own mostly by listening to whatever alt type rock was on the radio at the time and classic rock. Stuff that I think just kind of presents itself to a person without much searching. For a short period of time I was really into Zeppelin, but that passed pretty quickly. For a longer period of time I was really into Jimi Hendrix. I still really like Hendrix. I listened to the album Axis: Bold as Love all the way through everyday for the better part of a year.
After that I got a little into the punk rock thing. It's cool for what it is, but some of that was probably for the culture side of things as a younger teenager. Although I still like some of that a lot of it seems kind of immature and something that I personally grew out of.
Overlapping that period I used to like some more mainstream bands like Sublime when I was a freshman in high school. I guess part of that might have been the party type scene that I was into at the time. By the time I was a senior I really liked the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Currently bands with that type of sound seem really bland and boring to me.
By my freshman year at College, Frank Zappa and Ween had probably become my two most listened to music. I had been listening to them for years before, but I guess that it was at this point that something really clicked. They are just a lot different and therefore more interesting than a lot of things that would generally be heard.
I guess as time has gone on from this point I also started listening to more instrumental jazz and classical again. I had pretty much always liked that as well, but I just find myself in the mood more frequently for that stuff as time goes on.
So I guess that's how my musical taste has changed over the years in broad strokes leaving out a lot of specific styles and musicians that I have appreciated or grown to appreciate over time.

I graduated in 88 and listened to heavy metal, hard rock, and new wave. Now I'm more into jazz and blues. I think it's a normal progression.

No I said it like that because he was not like the others that I listened to all the time. John Mayer and Lil Wayne are not in the same genre of music. I have seen JM in concert at least 5 more times than any other band, group, or artist.

I'm 37. My first Albums were 80's pop--Michael Jackson, Culture Club, the Cars, Talking Heads etc. Then I got into the Beatles when my dad bought me a CD player.
Then in middle school, I got into Poison, Motley Crue, Metallica, Guns n' Roses.
High School was more of a grunge thing for me--Nirvana, Faith no More, Bush. Later on I started getting into Jam Bands.
In College, I followed Widespread around a bunch. Pretty much was into the jam band scene for 10 years or so.
Now, I'm more into alt country and listening to the older stuff I grew up on.

other than adding new interests, i don't think it's really changed..
Grew up in the 70's will always love classic rock.
Liked metal when i was young.. still do
added 80's hair metal along the way.
Added 90's "alternative"..
i guess the only thing that's changed is... can't get into much of the music of the 2000's.
