Nah dawg, that jam is a little overrated

Good jam, but nothing truly exemplary. Outside of a nice peak at the end it's not THAT great.

I spent a truly pathetic amount of time researching that list, and by the time I was done 7/10 'Dust wasn't good enough to make the cut

That 12/2 Gin is the best jam on that list though, hands down

I know it makes you sound cooler to say it is overrated but that Dust is

top phish shows i attended:

-halloween 1996
-big cypress Y2K
-auburn hills 1997
-the great went
-atlanta 1997
-hampton coliseum 1997 (both nights)
-charlotte 2011
-winston-salem 1998 (good show, but kuroda really nailed it that night, which elevated it)

best jams i attended (sticking with the head-blowing variety, not the ambient jams)....
"tweezer" auburn hills 1997
"ghost" atlanta 1997
"maze" atlanta 1996
"possum" atlanta 1997
"antelope" too many to mention
YEM ditto

favorite phish performance of all-time:

YEM>rocky mountain way>chalkdust torture, atlanta 1997

it's not the "best" YEM in terms of elite jamming, but it was by far the most enjoyable listening experience....check it out at least once, it's worth it. the "rocky mountain way" was a brief reprieve from the insanity that preceded it, then the "chalkdust torture" was concise but delightfully diabolical. to this day, those 25-30 minutes of music is what it's all about IMO...

yeah, that 'remain in light' set really set the tone for years to come IMO, musically speaking. i went at the last minute, still jonesing after seeing 'em in charlotte a few nights earlier. bought a ticket for $50 from a scalper (what a bargain by today's standards!), and ended up with seats behind the stage. tell you what, if there's ANY phish show you want to be behind the stage & staring at the audience for, it's a halloween show....a sight to behold
