I've said it before: Jennings is in a great position this offseason. The coaches now have a full game on tape of him going up against a good defense. They have a lot more to work with. Personally, I'm excited.

He is the quick learner type. Loves to get in the film room and playbook. Once he gets his feet set under him, that accuracy will be deadly. His decision making was actually good, just had happy feet.

This will be his saving grace because he doesn't have the skills LSU fans were told.

Don't need elite skills if you play smart.

To be fair, people were saying similar things about Mett last year.

Nah, most knew Mett had the skills (NFL arm) but was not very mobile.

Jennings was said to be able to make every throw Mett could make, and that's not true. He'll have to be more of a field general than a gunslinger

People heard how Mett could read defenses and work through his progressions. That's a skill. Last year, people started doubting that.

Eh, all we knew about Mett coming out of Butler is that he pushed Murray for the job at UGA. We knew he had a big arm, but not a lot else. Mett learned to read defenses, look off defenders.

He had some timing issues his first year but settle those the second. Jennings has a lot of room to improve but will never ever be able to make the throws Mett could make, and that's what was said about the guy.

You can improve your ability to read a defense, but there's not much you can do about an arm.
Jennings has an average arm but so did Danny Wuerffel so it doesn't mean he is doomed to be an average QB.

There is no proof that he can't make the throws Mett can make. Jennings is considerably younger than Mett in his first game at LSU. Besides, in his first year as a starter, Mett overthrew receivers. You don't need to throw a pass 60 yards on your knees to make throws.

I'm just willing to give Jennings time. In fact, I'm excited about having him.

I'm excited about the competition coming up. Whomever emerges will be better for it. I think whomever it is, next year will be a learning year.

I'm surprised we can even get players to come to LSU with all the negativity our "fans" spew at the players.
