The beginning of Rudi Johnson.
IMO, Haslett shoulda been fired after this game.

But it would be the best ever for the Cardinals. I love you guys but I really need you to lose this weekend!

I don't think this article is particularly well-written
You are way too kind:
"...it will be the worse regular season loss in team history."
"it takes something epically awful..."
"There were of extenuating circumstances..."
"Quarterback Aaron Brooks had a wrecked right shoulder, yet the Saints for whatever reason refused to start backup Jake Delhomme..."
"Considering what’s at stake and the opponent losses don’t get any worse."
I am absolutely convinced that Mr. Malbrough must have an uncle who is a very influential donor to WWL's parent company. Either that, or he has some incredibly unflattering photos of Jim Henderson.

a one-win Cincinnati team
One of the most frustrating games I've ever watched.
I remember the "Delhomme" chants that year. For some reason Haslett would not put Delhomme in. Then he leaves and does pretty good in Charlotte.
He was a hometown guy, would have been a decent Pre-Brees leader.
Though had the Haslett era not failed so miserably we would not of had the Payton era.

If we play Delhomme we definitely reach the playoffs in '02 and '04 and we end up with no Brees or Payton.

Anyone who says worst ever prolly doesn't know much before the golden age since Payton arrived. There were a number of seasons of nothing but pain start to finish back then.
It would be the worst of the Payton era though. Not the just the game per say but the collapse from 9-2 when a win would have gone to #1 seed.
That said, Fukk dat! Hopefully I don't need to remind some of the wildcard SB winners there have been. The past 3 SB winners were 10-6 & 9-7. Keep the faith brethren!

That 2002 Panthers game was the first Saints game I ever attended. Lost that game 10-6. Just a miserable ending to a season which saw us ranked first in the Power Rankings for the first time ever.

A friend of mine went to the Vikings 2002 game, and he sat in the plaza endzone section. He told me, "Before Culpepper ran the ball in, the hole was so huge that you could have driven a car in there."
