his is one of about 20 that will be created today. Same thing for every one of them: viable candidates will be listed upon which the Miles fans will scoff at every single one.

this thread is really really proving that

Damn guys. Y'all lost to the 2 time defending national champs after losing pretty much your entire defense to the draft. Time to step back from the ledge. Once you rebuild your D to match your revamped O your team will be flying high again.

I haven't heard a viable candidate yet
That's because we're not rookies and just have fun with them.

really I haven't scoffed at one yet...nobody has produced any viable candidates. actually the best response was the guy who said a average coach would be hired

1. David Shaw (might not come, but I would make him tell me no)
2. Jim Mora Jr. (very solid young up and coming coach)
3. Art Briles (what he has done at a program like Baylor is nothing short of amazing. Not my first choice though b/c of his age)
4. James Franklin

That's my short list if LSU had to start tomorrow

although thats a decent list I believe the west coast guys would stay home. why would people want ARt Briles. it would take a long time to implement his offense

Everyone always asks, "Well who would you hire that would do better?"

I think that might be the wrong question.

You guys are paying Les Miles about $4.5 million a year to be a "good" coach. Not a great one. Not an elite one.

I think the question is, "Can we get the same results for less?"

I think you could. I think you could get them for around the $2.5 million mark.

I think LSU is overpaying by a large margin right now, but I think that kind of salary acceleration is inevitable when a coach stays put for the better part of a decade.

Of course, Mark Richt has a similar record to Les Miles and he was only making $2.8 million until he got a raise last year.

So the guy who lost to Utah, played down to Washington St, and plays run/run/pass against their biggest rival??

He would be crucified on the rant his first game.
