Farking Question... to do with re coloring

Ok I use GIMP 2.8
why is it sometimes when I go to re color a pic or a gif lets say I go to color it red and it pops up brown or some color other than red.. What do I need to do to get the color I want

Not sure about the settings on Gimp, but most
photo editing Software programs have a
"Hue and Saturation" setting that will allow you
to alter the color and intensity of a selected
object. It may be hard to find so you'll probably
have to go through your file menu listings
until you run across it. When you're trying to
match up skin tones, you may have to go back and
forth between the Hue/Saturation and Light/Contrast
settings several times to get it as close as
possible.

The color mode for gifs is almost always "indexed color". Switch it to RGB and it should be fine.

don't know about gimp, but in photoshop, when you go to change the hue there is a box that says colorize. If you click that it will be accurate to what you want.

with the help i was able to borrow the saints gif and recolor it
