Am I in the minority? RE: Assassin's Creed franchise

The series lost me after ACIII. Though I may eventually play ACIV, It's certainly not on my to-do list after the debacle that was the conclusion of Assassin's Creed III.
I thought, and I had hoped, that Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II would give Desmond the abilities and the knowledge to fight the Knight's Templar in the present in a fully present day Assassin's Creed III story.
By Assassin's Creed III I had become more interested in Desmond's story than I had with his ancestors'. I was really hoping that the entirety of Assassin's Creed III would take place in the present day with Desmond as a fully trained modern-day Assassin.
I get the sense I am in the minority, however. But whatever.

Loved AC2 and Brotherhood, tolerated revelations, then AC3 pissed me off. I want to like this franchise still but they haven't given me much reason lately. Your not in the minority

quote:It was the opposite for me. I hated the breaks from the past to go back to Desmond. I thought it took away from what made the game really great. During AC3 I could care less about Desmond and what he was after. I havent played the new one yet so I dont even know if Desmond is still alive.

Loved climbing shite in AC
Made me want to play AC2 and loved the different locations and diving into the water
Played half of Brotherhood and got bored
Never played Revelations
Never played AC3
Doubt I'll play AC4

AC II and Brotherhood were perfection. AC was too boring with the pre-assasination missions all being the same four things. But it was my first true next-gen game.
Brotherhood was when I realized I was getting a flat product with silly tacked on features like that tower defense crap and the whole bomb crafting system that I had no reason to do.
ACIII was meh. I really stopped caring about Desmond after Brotherhood. I loved the sailing parts. So I think I'll really like ACIV. However Connor was so bland and boring it almost dragged the game down into nothing for me. So the game gets a meh.
We'll see what IV brings.
