Lessor known and less popular follow up to "The Twilight Zone." Came out in the early 70s I believe. Stumbled on it 5-10 years ago.

Unique hour-long format could contain a couple of episodes or several of varying length, which caused some to be butchered later in syndication by trying to lengthen or shorten them to fit into a half hour slot.

Serling also had little creative control so his scripts were frequently changed and an hour long show could have a great episode with one or more bad ones.

Still there were some really good ones like "Camera Obscura", "Cool Air" and "The boy who Predicted Earthquakes." Anyone recall and have favorites?

It wasn't in repeats nearly as much as Zone so I didn't see as many.

Don't remember any specifics but it was alright.

Seems like there was more realistic drama and less fantasy / monsters so I didn't watch them with the same interest as I had in Zone.

Did love me some Outer Limits.

It runs on a local "classic TV" station. More uneven than TWZ, but there are some good episodes.

Yep loved Outer Limits and the Zone, didn't know Gallery existed till I came across a marathon on HBO years ago. Very uneven series but had some really good ones. But as I said even on classics channels you never know if you're seeing a butchered version. I saw a couple and they were way off from the original version

Good show, but I preferred Night Stalker.

"The Sins Of The Fathers" is terrifying to this day.

"There Aren't Any More McBanes" freaked my little arse out.

"Big Surprise" is another good one.

"Sins" is great. The 3 pilot episodes ("The Cemetary", "Eyes", "The Escape Route") were also really good.

"Something in the Woodwork", "Phantom Farmhouse" and "I'll Never Leave You - Ever" also come to mind.

Scott Skelton wrote a great book all about NG. Head director Laird sounded like a wildcard, but he gave many untested directors (like a 22 year old Spielberg) some of their first breaks.

My dad got these on VHS when I was about 10. I've only seen a handful of Twilight Zone episodes, but I've seen all of The Night Gallery. Freaked me the frick out. I still can't see an earwig without cringing

"The Earwig"

ETA: The episode was actually named "The Caterpillar", although it was an earwig

Is the earwig that little broach the woman at the bar would wear that would come to life?

No, I forgot the name of that episode but it's pretty good too. The earwig episode is one where it normally eats its way thru the brain causing death. But the guy survives, only to find out his earwig was a female - who'd laid eggs

It was set in South or Central America, IIRC.

ETA: Yeah you can definitely torrent all 3 seasons. Should be done by the time I get home from work in the AM
