Anyone Hear Jimmy Johnson Fall Into Total Confusion After Saints Win?

They went to him in the studio right after the Saints won and he starts talking about Rex Ryan and how, even with his problems with the Jets, he always had a pretty good defense. Everyone just stared at him and then kept going. I had to think for a minute why he was talking about the Jets and I realized that he thought that the Saints DC was actually Rex Ryan and that Rex Ryan was no longer with the Jets but was now the Saints DC.

Can I get paid a ton of money to sit in the studio and know absolutely nothing about what is going on in the NFL?

Did anyone else catch that?

I didn't see this, but that kind of sounds like senility.

You think a collegiate national champion and two time Super Bowl winning coach knows absolutely nothing about what is going on the the NFL?

Well, he thinks that Rex Ryan is the Saint's DC. That is more than just confusing the names, which I would understand. He went on and on about how when Rex was with the Jets, they had a good defense, so it makes sense that the Saints defense is playing better. He confused the people completely.

That is pretty bad.

Agree. Their little judge segment with him and May arguing is pure gold

There are plenty of current NFL players who know nothing about what is going on in the NFL.

Ex coaches and players may be better at the intricacies and subtleties of the game than normal fans, but oftentimes smart dedicated fans are more informed about the minutiae and specifics of what's currently going on

Hell players don't even know what team is in their division or if the games can end in ties.

This is a guy who apparently doesn't make enough money from FOX (and interest from the millions he earned as a coach) such that he has to hawk penis pills and anti-spyware computer software on C-list commercials. Doesn't surprise me if he's a little loopy.

But we are not talking about them.

no he didn't. He was talking about the Jets game which they were about to go to.

He was probably supposed to discuss the Saints game, but there was probably some confusion.

Correct. Coming out of commercial break Meneffee recapped the early games and asked the guys to comment on them. Jimmy starts right in on the Bucs/Jets game, which is still being played. "And in this game we're watching, talking about Tampa Bay and the Jets, you know, we talk about Jets problems. But they didn't have any problems on defense. Rex Ryan's an outstanding defensive coach, and he's showing that today against this Tampa Bay team."

Then Strahan starts talking about the Seattle/Carolina game.

I'm sorry you're so mad, OP.
