the Fairhope area on Saturday for a short family vacation. Looking for somewhere easy to take the family for a casual lunch. Will this place be worth getting off the interstate for or should I just wait and get something around Fairhope?

I ate at the one in Gulf Shores. Had this...

quote:

Shell Shocked Oyster Sampler
Joe and Dave's favorite baked oysters, cracker meal Fried oysters and delicious Tasso oysters. Oh yea baby! $12.95

It was OK, nothing special.

Honestly can't remember what I got for my entree.

The food was decent, but I'd hope you could find a better option. Sorry I don't have a suggestion for you.

ETA: Just remembered, we split this...

quote:

Causeway Seafood Platter
Fried shrimp, oysters, crab claws and a flounder fillet. $15.95

Again, it was decent. I didn't feel like I overpaid or anything, just not really wowed by anything. My mom did say the salad bar was nice though.

R&R Seafood House is better if you're looking for Casual Family dining on the Causeway.

I was born and raised in Mobile.

Oyster House

It is good, nothing special IMO. My favorite spot on causeway is felix's but it isn't as laid back

R&R is good and I always like blue gill

It's a good spot. I like Felix's and R&R a tad better.

oyster house is just frozen crap. I live in mobile and avoid it at all cost. Felix's, R&R, Ed's and blue gill are all better. But if you are going to be in the fairhope area just eat in fairhope. lots of good spots. The wash house is excellent as is master joes for sushi but both are on the expensive side. Gambino's has good Italian, market by the bay has good fresh cheap seafood too. Ravenite is also really good pizza. And you can't go wrong at panini pete's in the heart of downtown fairhope for a casual family lunch.

Been to the original. Good salad bar. Like the stuffed crab. Everything else I've had is decent. Can't really complain.

We always stop at Felixs on the way to the beach. It's solid. Sounds like we need to try R&R.

If you're going to be in that area, absolutely hit up Dragonfly Food Bar!

We're gonna try Felix's on the way home from the beach on Monday. I just learns of this place yesterday. Their menu and FB food pics look great.

Ok, it seems as if Felix will win out.

We ended up at Laps. Place was pretty damn cool. Atmosphere was perfect for a little family lunch. Good beer on tap.

Food was a B
Service gets a C-

We are leaving beach now. We're eating at either Felix's or R&R's. haven't decided yet.

I only come home 2-3 times a year but every time I do I always make a stop at felix's and get the same thing...

- camp salad
- raw oysters
- crab soup
- Stuffed grouper with green beans almondine
