I swear Danny fricking Granger is talked about more than Anthony Davis on this damn board. The dude is like 30 and played I think 4 games last year.

Realistic means Jrue, EG, Tyreke, AD, and probably Rivers aren't moving. Most valuable assets remaining Ryno, Aminu, Roberts, Smith...Ryan has the best value in terms of bringing in a quality starter, the others have cheap expiring contracts which are always easy to move and can bring in rotation quality players unless combined with other assets.

Most likely for me would be Roberts and Smith. Smith could be a bit too expensive to retain after this season and Roberts is easily replaceable. Throw in our 2nd pick and see what the going rate is for them. Would like a 3 or a 5 that is young 3 years locked up with potential to grow. Whomever fits the bill that Dell would sign off on. Then pick up another point with the Oden exception.

That seems realistic, I am wondering though how rivers and Pierre Jackson are going to fit in to the pelicans back court

Detroit loves them some Greg Monroe. He's not going anywhere.

Rumblings from his camp that he wants a max and a good situation.

From his agent David Falk:

quote:

When I evaluate things, with a player of Greg's stature: Take the money out of the equation. I can get it from five different teams. 'Are there players I want to play with? A coach I want to play for? A city I want to live in?' My job is to make the money as insignificant as possible (relatively)."

And rumors that Detroit doesn't want to pay Monroe what he wants.

quote:

Detroit isn’t stoked about giving Monroe a max-level contract extension, and if they fall in love with the Smith-Drummond front line, they may dangle Monroe at some point.

Obviously doesnt guarantee anything, but it hints at the possibility of Monroe being available

I liked the trade proposals Anderson for Asik and Gordon for Deng. Team would be way more balanced then and we would have a bunch of flexibility this summer (Deng's expiring). I don't know how Asik's poison pill goes to other teams though..

Holiday/Rivers
Evans/Morrow
Deng/Aminu
Davis/Smith
Asik/Stiemsma

Lowe had a great article focusing heavily on Monroe. He sums it up with:
quote:

But Drummond projects as a game-changing defender. Monroe does not, and offense-only big men on their second NBA contracts tend to become drains on a team's salary cap who also place limits on their team's ceiling.

I think that I would prefer doing the Ryno for Asik deal over whatever we'd have to give up for Monroe.

Good read. Missed it when it came out

In the unlikely event Monroe is available, I think he fits very nicely in NO. Agree that he isnt a max guy, but he and Davis seem to complement each other well.

But say they do a S/T with Gordon and/or Anderson as bait. Holiday/Evans/Davis/Monroe is enticing. D and 3 SF plus smart bench signings could make some serious noise

Want to steal Jeff Taylor from the Hornets. Would love a SF like him on this team.

Same goes for Wilson Chandler. Teams with multiple SFs should be easier to pouch?

Denver lost Iggy and Brewer + Gallo is out for a good while. They can't trade Chandler now without getting a solid SF back.
