If I didn't know Erie was such a nice dude, I would have fought him when I got my quote.

Ahh, I'm talking about the one in Baton Rouge. And they offered me $100. I ended up selling it on eBay for $350.

What kind of guitar is it, if you don't mind me asking?

It's a Gretsch G6120-1959-LTV Chet Atkins model. A beautiful guitar that sounds great but I haven't used it much and the longer I've had it, the less I play it to keep it in mint condition. These retail for $3K now. Mine is a 2005 model.

Here it is on the Gretsch website:

Sell that outright. Don't even think about GC.

eBay is the ticket, I think. If you don't get any bites the first time, keep trying. Big ticket items can take a while to sell but they eventually catch the attention of the right people: collectors and dealers.

the one in Baton Rouge

I worked there almost 5 years ago. I would always recommend that people sold their equipment elsewhere and come back to me for a deal on whatever they wanted. I made a lot more money that way than having to tell someone I could only take <40% of market value for something that was in mint condition and try to up sell them.

Not worth it. Ill let stuff pile up before Il part with it to them. Pawn shop not any different. Take the time and have the patience to sell it on craigs list for a fair price. More cash to grab what you have your eye on. It will still be there and you'll have more time to obsess over it.
