So I am thinking about investing in this company Tencent Holdings Ltd: TCTZF but it also has the symbol

TCHEY

I am confused on what the difference is or if there is a difference? They both have profiles that link them to the same company, same address etc, but their stock prices are a a little different.

I guess in regards to OTC there is risk in investing in the market because they don't have to report to the SEC?

I tried doing some research by myself online and understand the OTC market and pink sheets better now, but don't undertand how there are two companies like this.

Thanks

Getting ready for work so very little time here...

Run. Don't even think about "investing" in one of these.

Learned the hard way in college. Just leave that foolish idea alone.

If you want some risk, trade some options.

Yeah heard similar things myself. Better things out there to invest in IMO.

Really? Who told you that.

And to Bama- When you say run, is it because these companies typically fail? I mean this company has $4bil in cash and $12bil in assets, it's not some mom and pop shop. Just trying to understand.

OTC stocks have larger spreads (lower volume). So OTC stocks typically have more liquidity risk.

Gotcha, I still don't understand why there are two symbols for the same company...Can anyone answer that for me? Is that typical?

I just want to know which one to buy...Thanks

I mean some companies have different setups for the same company like kinder morgan has

KMP
KMR
KMI

all have different pros and cons. I know nothing about the company you listed, but it's not that far fetched to have a company with multiple symbols.

The "F" listing is likely for ordinary shares while the "Y" listing is for ADRs. F means foreign. Some very legitimate foreign companies list on the OTC in addition to their home markets and in this context, an OTC listing does not necessarily mean it's a penny stock scam. Nintendo, for example, has an ADR listing on the OTC.

LINK

You will likely find less liquidity, though.

I have a few shares of Vodacom stock from OTC but I don't see that as super risky as Vodafone runs it and is traded in the South African exchange.

I just like a 5-7% dividend that is already up a couple percent since I bought it
