Someone needs to contact Stephen A 'bigmouth' Smith that the PELICANS

are on the PROWL in 2013 !!
He needs to look at our logo - one of the best in the NBA IMO...
....and realize that the Louisiana Brown Pelican is a fierce, determined, angry, predatory and PROUD bird and Louisiana native !!
He needs to shut his PUNK arse up....
He also needs to realize that the Louisiana Pelican is ON OUR STATE SEAL, and is the Louisiana STATE BIRD. And also that it is the rebirth and comeback of a previous Pelicans nickname from the early to mid 20th century....
Thus, the 'Pelican' has EVERYTHING to do with and is linked with New Orleans and Louisiana. It's relevant. It actually means something to the city.
...While the following NBA nicknames are NOT relevant to their cities:
Lakers
Kings
Cavaliers
Jazz
Hawks
Wizards
Raptors
Warriors
Grizzlies
And just WTF is a 'Clipper'? And how exhilarating and exciting is a 'Net' ???
A 'Nugget' ??? A 'Cavalier' ??? A 'Wizard' ??
And the WORST of all.......

I do agree the Pelicans is the state bird and on the flag, however I do hope we atleast we begged the Jazz to give us their name and Benson did have some better options to name the team... However he patent the name Pelicans a while ago and this was his chance to use it

I hate the name. I would have preferred Krewe, Revellers, or even Hurricanes. Pulling rank on the AFL team, Voodoo is awesome. Finally, Utah is the beehive state. A straight swap of names would have made a good percentage of both fan bases happy. Oh well, such is life. We are the Pelicans, but all of us don't have to like it. Nonetheless, Geaux New Orleans.

Why do people care what national sports writers/casters have to say?
They are writing/broadcasting for the masses and won't give teams like the pelicans the time of day until they earn it. Yes they will talk crappy large market teams day and night because that's where their viewers readers come from
