Just an FYI. You can mirror an iPhone and iPad with a roku. There is a roku app that allows you to do this. I found the roku connects better in my house. It will be different for everyone. Just go with the one that has the options you like. I also like the roku 3 having the ability to plug headphones into the remote. I can do this while on the treadmill and watch old shows to catch up on.

Bought the Apple TV yesterday. Took a while to get it to connect.

Though I haven't messed with it a whole lot yet, it seems pretty cool and seems that it'll suit my needs.

DirectTV caved after a few days and signed on. HBOGo thru DirectTV works on Apple TV.
