I remember the first time I watched it. Went into the local video store, picked something out, then asked the checkout guy if it was any good. He said not really. I said, well what is. Dude went to the return bin, came back with Shawshank (which I had never heard of) and said get this.
I think it is in just about every guy's top 10 of all time list.
