Start one less player if you're worried about talent dilution in a larger league. Or eliminate a bench spot so there are 14 more guys on the wire. If it's an active trading league there is nothing to worry about, but if you have huge rosters in a 14+ team league without a ton of activity , you're pretty much gridlocked with little ability to improve your team after first few weeks.

14 is too many. Ive been in a league for 20+ years. We always had 14 until about 5 years ago. Its MUCH better now.
PS - bit of advice: if you go with 14, decrease the number of reserve players allowed. The free agents will still be very thin but this helps.

I like 14 and 16 team leagues. Just make sure the starters are flexible and limit bench players.
Auction helps also, but it's not bad in snake draft format.
