That was something I was wondering. Does the yellow shine them better? I've never tested it on frogs.

Look at any coon hunting supply site. They have all the lights you need.

I want to make one for the boat that hooks to a 12v battery, and just the plugs off a long extension cord and put clamps on one end and wire in the other to the light. My uncle had one of these. That way you can still go a good 10ft+ out the boat if needed but it lasts a long time and is hands free

Somebody's got their panties in a wad.
I went back to check, and what you are advocating is he put an aircraft landing light on his head with a 24 hour life expectancy as long as you treat it like it's a piece of priceless murano glass. So basically it's a replacement bulb at the cost of a top end LED headlamp that will outlive you, every third to fifth trip as long as you don't set it down too hard, bump your head, fall down, get it wet, or hit a bump to hard on the way to the boat, etc. Not even going to attempt to compare the cost of batteries. Also, you might want to check your math.

He's not catching the golden goose in a zero g environment full of feather pillows. Every time I ever caught frogs there was lots of crashing into land and burying oneself to the armpits in the mud and bashing into tree limbs and bumpy boat rides and eventually water and such. But I've never been on a genteel frog hunting safari so maybe I just don't know what you're talking about. Forgive me if that's the case. And while incandescents are no doubt bad to the bone on the output, reliable they most definitely are not.
Now if you tell me crees don't shine eyes. I'm sold. But other than that, I've used them, and you'd be hard pressed trying to justify having a tiny version of the sun made from a filament of plasma on your head that will break just by turning it on for any period of time, if you had that many batteries aboard, when you can throw that cree into the bottom of the boat and have it float around in the bilge water, get stepped on, then slap it back on your head and put up a spotlight that's better than daylight at fifty freaking yards with a few AA's in it to replace next season.
I suspect I am just not taking this frog hunting thing nearly seriously enough though. Froggin' is obviously serious business.

To answer your points briefly:
1) One link had an aircraft one, the other had a low beam car headlight for $16.99. Just giving examples of lights people actually use for frogging headlamps.
2) I found that conversion factor online. But even using yours, 110000>1600 (your link had a straight conversion).
3) If you have bumpy frogging experiences, that's fine. But to come in here and say that the way bulleyes have been made for decades is now crap is just dumb. I would think a headlight or aircraft light are probably sturdy enough to hit a branch or something, and if you hit something hard enough to break the light, I suspect you won't be worried about the light because you'll be knocked the F out.
4) You sound like you're the most rough person ever with your stuff, throwing it around, sinking it in water, stepping on it. Remind me to never lend you anything.
