Want to avoid tourist traps obviously and find something a little more "local" and off the beaten path.

Go up to Eze. We ate at a cafe right on the main 'corner' and it was good. I ate raw beef in some form. Town is epic. Go up to the succulent path on top.

Looks like it's right on the way between Nice and Monte Carlo.

We'll be spending time in Villefranche too, which is supposedly the less touristy version of Nice

We had a rental car and drove from Cannes to the Italian border and all over that area. There are insanely beautiful roads between Nice and Monaco. Eze was fun to get to.

Any restaurant of Alain Ducasse is well worth going to if you can get a reservation

In Barcelona just go place to place and get servings of tapas which are enjoyable in any place. I will have to e-mail the ex for recommendations on Nice.

My favorite place in Barcelona is Bar Celtica. Dirty old bar, but they have the best Pulpo(octopus) in town.

How long do you have in Barcelona?

Don't eat in Monte Carlo. Sure Ducasse has a spot there but it is probably about 1.5 times more expensive than any of his other places solely because it is Monte Carlo.

In Barcelona, I liked Bar Pinotxo, El Quim, Cinq Sentits, Comerc 24, Can Culleteres. Had the best meal of my entire life at Carme Ruscalleda's Sant Pau, which is about an hour northeast up the coast from Barcelona.

It's been awhile since I've been to Barcelona, but that place is outstanding. I didn't have a bad meal anywhere. We went to 7 Portes on the recommendation of a local and it was outstanding. I really need to make it back there.......

I loved Barcelona. Cannot remember the restaurants where I ate, but get the paella. Also it seems like every restaurant has chickens roasting on pits in their front windows.

If you're willing to go a bit further than Eze, drive the extra fifteen minutes or so north across the A8 to Peillon, a hidden little gem of a village which seems to be hanging by a thread off the side of a cliff, and eat at the Auberge de la Madone. You'll get vertigo walking around there. Part of the village is only accessible by a suspended foot bridge over a deep chasm.

I just got back, so I know what I'm talking about. Go to Mas Provencal in Eze. Mas Provencal

Or if you want a Michelin Star Meal, hit Chateua Eza: Chateau Eza

Or this place:

Or Chavre d' or: Chevre D' Or

For Monte Carlo, the American Bar at Hotel de Paris is nice but I didn't eat much in the city.
