One I remember is the HR the first baseman from Center TX hit to tie Long Beach State game in the 7th inning in the super regional and LSU eventually won in 14 of the super regional. The 3 best rallies in order, however, were the walk off home run against Miami to win the College World Series, the rally against Long Beach State to win the College World Series, and the rally against Stanford to win the College World Series. The most improbable in my mind was the Long Beach State win because of the multiple hits required against a really good pitcher.

LSU never played LBSU in a super regional.

That didn't win the CWS, just advanced us to the title game.

Yea, me too! A&M was like 54 and 4 and we had to beat them 2 straight. It was 104 degrees...but the tigas made their patented move to victories. Ray's catch in right field and their come back against Stanford... Heroic! Luv'd it.

The Long Beach St game he was initially referring to was in the1997 losers bracket in the regional (before the Super Regional format). Eddy Furniss tied the game with a solo homer. Skip got thrown out that game arguing a balk call made against Patrick Coogan. That game went 12 or so innings. Of course, LSU destroyed South Alabama two games on Memorial Day to make it back to Omaha.

Gotta add the game in the sec tourney vs sc. Down 5-1, Matt Clark bashes a 3 run homer and schimpf hit that bloop to left to tie it. Dean won it in extras with a homer I think.

Also deans grand slam vs bama in the sec tourney the same year

I took my Mom to Game 1 Stony Brook and luckily had club tickets with all delays and her being elderly. But who knows if she will get to go again to the Box.

Yea - Would have been epic to finish them off - but what a great game. Mom got to see the box at its best in her olny game ever there. 3 Solo shots in bott. of 9, 10, 11 or whatever it was after not doing squat. Great memories. and she is huge Tiger Fan living in Texas. I think Mikie Mahtook got her hooked on the Tigers in his Fresh year in CWS.

Anyway, was happy she was treated to such a classic game! Special stuff.

Yeah, as others have said, the Stoney Brook Game1 would definitely be more memorable had we won the series. Losing the series makes many people, including myself, forget how dramatic/awesome Game1 was.

As far as one game - taking out the rest of series. Taken at the time. A super. Rain delays. No offense the 3 solo dongs.

Could it be argued to one of the best ever?
