I have the pleasure of being on hold at the moment with the IRS. I'm squaring away financing and getting my transcripts for tax year 2012 is hitting a snag. My mortgage broker is unable to order them. I had the same issue when I tried the website myself. They certainly cashed my check as I saw it clear my account. Since I owed this time, I waited until tax day to pay. Is it possible they're still processing it or what?

Yes.

How long have you been on hold, just out of curiosity?

Appox 42 minutes as of this post. The gentleman that directed my call actually sighed during his spiel of "This is Mr (Whatever)....*sigh*....my id number is 1234567." I think this guy goes home and cries himself to sleep every night after downing a pint of whiskey.

Be prepared, in about 5 more minutes or so on hold, you'll probably be transferred automatically (by their system) and you'll have to go through all that bullshite confirmation again with a new irs agent.

Wish I was kidding.

Brother, when I was cleaning up my $50K tax lien, I had to make this phone call at least once a month. They never assigned an agent to my case, I had to go through the same bullshite over and over again, and had to put up with abusive agents even though I was paying my debts on time and was compliant from the beginning. It was a nightmare, I never want to go through it again.

When I finally got to someone she was rather helpful and seemed to do what she could. I waited until April 15 to put my return in the mail since I owed. No sense in letting them have my money early. They sure as hell cashed the check on April 17. But currently no return is associated with me for tax year 2012. They noted the payment. She said since it was a paper return it could take up to 8 weeks to process and appear in the system. This is unfortunate because I have a scheduled closing date of May 31 on a house.

Yeah, they don't give a frick, it's not their money.

FWIW You could have filed the return early, and then mailed the check on the 15th. (sorry to be captain hindsight).

I seriously didn't know that. Interesting. I usually can't do mine until later on any way as I have to wait on different forms, usually a Schedule-K.

The next time you call the IRS tell them you are the Grand Dragon of the National Tea Party. They will help you immediately.

Officially I'm still registered as Republican. Perhaps Obama is targeting me. Though I will never give a dime to the GOP nor have I voted for a major party for president in the last two elections.

Should have done it around the 10th. I understand wanting to hold on to your money, but that is the busiest tax day of the year for the IRS, especially if you filed a

These always take longer to process.

If you are trying to close on May 31, you had to have known in April that a lender may need your tax return, so you should have used a little forethought and tried to make the process easier on the front end.

I'm not taking up for the IRS, but you've got to try to put yourself in a better situation on the front end if possible.

Only started to seriously look in early April. Offer was made on a place on May 3. The processing agent has a copy of return as provided by my accountant. It's up to the underwriter now. Should know something tomorrow afternoon. I won't have any problems getting approved as my income is well within the range needed for the mortgage, just hopefully they accept the form submitted by my accountant.

the UW is more than likely not going to take account information. Your best bet is to go down to your local IRS office if the return has been processed you can get a copy from them. I have made clients do this to save time....

According to the operator I talked to yesterday afternoon, the payment has been received but the return has not been processed. I'm thinking a trip to the actual office would have the same results.
