they're not a Vanderbilt, or Miss St. They're the Alabama of soccer, and their Saban is retiring, but they're still Alabama

This is a little different as Paisley was arguably a better coach than Shankley. I highly doubt that happens with SAF and DM.

I completely understand what Xavier is saying. A league cup would be considered a disappointing season for United fans. And a league cup and a #3 finish is certainly possible (and I'd argue likely) in the first year and possibly the second.
