Yeah, I kinda feel the same way. I guess it's nice, from a scientific point of view, to discover more diversity of life in our waters, but to me, it's just another largemouth bass in the same way that shellcracker, bluewhistlers, bluegill, and redear are all just bream.

Scientists aren't researching for the sake of fishermen.

bullshite!

It's a mutation from the tons of lead, brass and C4 I helped dump and blast in the Pearl from PBRs during the 80's, before we cared about pollution.

(I bet you could still dredge up truckloads of 7.62 and .50 cal brass from a few particular spots in the Pearl)

I didn't mean it to sound dickish toward you. It just seems like wildlife biologists trying to justify their job.

Yeah, why learn about the world around you or that silly evolution theory? It's all a waste of time.

The answer to the question of why we reaserch things that seem inconsequential is: secondary endpoints and incidental findings.

This, they most likely were studying the health of bass as a whole an just bumped into a new species.

Could have spent the money on new iphones for the urban youth.
