Obviously using Sabermetrics in the college game is a different pursuit since they play less games and there is less parity in the talent, but the WHIP stat has become more mainstream and still is a solid indicator of dominance for a college pitcher. If people are unaware of the WHIP standard, generally any pitcher in MLB hovering around a 1.00 WHIP is considered ridiculous. If you drop below that, you are having a historically dominant year.

To give some indication, the lowest WHIP recorded was Pedro Martinez in 2000 with a WHIP of .74. Mariano Rivera, for his career, has a WHIP of 1.0012. All that is to say that even in college, a WHIP of .80 for Nola is downright filthy. A .56 WHIP for the last 4 games is superhuman.
