he's been slightly hurt but having a good season...if he is this year's Mike Trout and you're 12-13, why not go ahead and let him get his chance?

He could come in and start in left over Joyce

I just hate seeing him sit on my bench, patiently waiting

Super 2 date is middle of June so probably around then at the earliest. He's striking out a ton too, remember they kept Jennings in AAA for over a month after his super 2 because they felt he wasn't ready.

They either don't think he's ready for MLB pitching or they're waiting for the Super 2 deadline, which I believe is July 6th this year.

I think it's the latter. Wouldn't expect him up soon

But he's hitting and walking, so I wouldn't guess they are too terribly concerned.

Still, I agree. They'll wait for Super 2.

He is not Mike Trout or Bryce Harper so you may want to limit your expectations.

I agree with this. Myers is a very nice talent but Trout and Harper are once in a lifetime guys. The Rays have a lot of experience with this situation and they seem to be very very patient and in no hurry to bring him up. That being said I cannot wait until I can unleash him in my active lineup. I don't know how effective he'll adjust to the bigs initially but it will sure be fun to watch. It's almost a bummer to see him sitting on my minors list.

I didn't mean that he would be as good...I meant it more along the lines of come up and be rookie of the year material and a future star

In addition, a player can be classified as a "Super Two" and be eligible for arbitration with less than three years of service. A player with at least two but less than three years of Major League service shall be eligible for salary arbitration if he has accumulated at least 86 days of service during the immediately preceding season and he ranks in the top 22 percent (increased from 17 percent in previous agreements) in total service in the class of Players who have at least two but less than three years of Major League service, however accumulated, but with at least 86 days of service accumulated during the immediately preceding season.

Don't be, only baseball nerds know what it is. If teams wait to call up a prospect after that date they basically avoid having to pay arbitration to that player for an extra year.

Tampa NEVER burns their guys super 2 clock like that, they can't afford to. An extra year of a guys rights when he is gonna be in his prime is>>>>>>>>>>>then 1/3 of his rookie season.

If Myers pans out and becomes a star the Rays stand to save a ton of money in the long run, but it's a shame they have to wait two more months given how weak their offense is. What they do could decide whether or not they make the postseason.

I thought I read somewhere that his RHP hitting is below .200 in April... no way he's called up until he rights(no pun intended) those hitting stats.
