My problem is that in this draft there were players that could do the exact same thing as late as the 3 rd round.

Neither you or I own a crystal ball. No one's success or failure is guaranteed. It's all subjective at this point. I repeat: "YOU don't like the Vaccaro pick. Nobody with any kind of football knowledge agrees with you."

your entire defense primarily relies on the opinions of others

I was not a fan of Vaccaro when we picked him. Then I watched the Texas game play for play. I saw a missed arm tackle here, taking a bad angle in run support there, and having trouble getting off TA's block. With the exception of one completion allowed in man and two zone completion allowances (that I could blame on the safety), I also saw KV stay with an electric receiver stride for stride, step for step, something I rarely saw any Saints defender do last year. It was then I became a Vacarro fan. Mel Kiper or Mike Mayock never made me like Vaccaro. My eyes did.

the only thing you offered against anything I said, ANY of the clips i posted, ANY of the responses to the "evidence" you provided of him against tavon austin was this

Yes, I purposely didn't answer every stupid explanation you had on the clips, because you're the type of person who can't admit the other guy made a point, so you will harp on & on over minute details & semantics (as you did for another two paragraphs about the one direct comment I made to your points) and this could go to infinity. I've been around this rodeo before. We will agree to disagree. So it remains that I think you are wrong.

quote:

but lets make the base bet

All your bets are based on bad angles, personal fouls, and dropping INTs. I wouldn't take those bets if we drafted Darrelle Revis. I've admitted to you I saw him take a bad angle. I'm on the record saying I don't "see playmaking-turnover guy". What I've addressed is his impressive cover skills and showed you evidence. But once again, in effort to disparage this guy, you re-direct the cover skills issue to game flaws that even an All Pro could make. The whole bet suggestion is incongruent, and frankly, absurd.

What is far from a crap shoot is studying successful organizations and their valuations of players relative to unsuccessful organizations' valuations.

I think the Saints are a successful organization. I think the 49ers are a successful organization. San Fran wanted Vaccaro. The Saints took him. To avoid the next safety San Fran liked from being taken, they moved up to take Reid. Jim Harbaugh, Sean Payton, Rex Ryan, and LSUFreek like Vaccaro. YOU don't. Maybe you should re-think your evaluations.

well that's odd, since after austin cut (which was about 5 yards in) he was about 2 feet inside KV, hence, it hitting him in the hands and kv not even within reach to tip it. that seems like more than inches.
They didn't start out touching each other the whole time, and the receiver has the advantage on cuts because the defender has to guess where he is going.

Saying that Vaccaro was only 2 feet away(still within arms reach so if the ball came inside it could have been tipped) from the most explosive college play maker last year sounds damn impressive to me.

??? there are 3 feet in a yard bud
And you said less than a yard. A foot is less than a yard. Now you're saying 2 feet. Still less than a yard.
quote:

matt elam 4.53
eric reid 4.54
Because that 0.1 is so much faster.

Straight line speed is so vastly overrated. Reaction speed and burst are much more important for DBs. You could be the fastest sprinter in the world, but if it takes you over a second to react you are going to get smoked.

Again, you like to make stuff up. I never said 40 times don't matter. I said they are vastly overrated. This is the biggest reason teams miss on so many guys each and every year(well that and size; look at all the people who slept on Sproles).

Sure if one guy runs a 4.3 and the other runs a 5.5, that will make a difference. 4.3 vs. a 5.0 will make a little difference. But a 4.3 vs. a 4.6 is much less of a difference.

I think this fits here

Wow maybe Dallas just wanted to make sure there was no way to make a bad pick:

"Great stuff. It’s interesting to group your Bad and Bust percentages together. That changes the dynamic a lot. For example, QBs have far and away the highest pure Bust%, 10 points higher than DE and more than double that of a G or CB. But when it’s Bad&Bust%, QBs finish just behind DE and only a few ticks away from G and CB:

Pos Bad&Bust%
DE 40
QB 39
RB 37
OLB 36
DT 36
CB 36
G 32
T 30
S 28
ILB 27
WR 26
TE 21
C 0"

Then again this is the Cowboys. Maybe they'll have the first Bust C in the first round in recent memory.

I like that S has an 8% less Bad/Bust rate than OLB.
