But didn't his value bubble under Bush?

His value was hyper-inflated just like the market was in 2008.

JJ is the one that should have looked at a different position...he could have played in the league if he had listened to me...he is tough enough, big enough, athletic enough, but not humble enough to admit that he is not a NFL QB...too bad he wasn't smart enough to switch positions and take the money to the bank...he is a great blocker, tackler, and most everything but he doesn't see the field well enough to QB at the next level...swallow your false pride

Shep has zero, and I mean ZERO, chance of making an NFL roster. I like the guy, but I'm so tired of the Shep-lovers continuing to keep hope alive. DB - really?!?! After not playing a down of DB in his entire life, he's going to make an NFL roster now?!?!

Yes, he was a 5*, but that's just a subjective recruiting service's opinion, and they make mistakes all the time. Shep just isn't an elite football player. Sorry, but it happens, even to 5* recruits. Just accept it and move on.

congratulations. Way to bring Jeffersons name into a thread that had nothing to do with him.

You never know. Sam Shields (Packers DB)was switched from WR to DB in the middle of his senior year at Miami. He signed as an UFA for $7,500, made the roster and got a 3-year $1.2 million deal. Now he's a solid pro with a $2 million 1 year deal headed for unrestricted free agency next year.

When a guy runs a laser 4.5 flat and jumps 39 inch vertical, he's got better than a zero percent chance of making a roster.

He'll always be intriguing to me because the pure athleticism is there, it's just a matter of, is anybody able to translate that to something worthwhile on the field.

Just his explosiveness alone will get him a spot as a UFA. I could see him spending a couple years on special teams, learning the position and becoming a decent DB. No way in hell he makes it in the NFL as a WR, so this may be his only shot.

I can't see him as a Corner, maybe a Safty if he can hit and tackle.

The moment we realized he couldn't catch a cold, he should have been converted to DB. DB's are really athletic, fast guys that can't catch. That is what he is. How is it that in 4 years in our program our staff didn't figure this out??

At this point he would at least have a chance to make a staff if he had been converted. Now, a very very long shot. Sucks. I feel for Shep.

his chances of being successfull would have been better, but could you imagine the meltdown that would have occured on here if he would have been switched to DB early in his career here at LSU with all the 5 star hype surrounding him?
