Is there a reason that you shouldn't delete the source images you placed into an InDesign document? Better yet, does it really matter if you have all of those red question marks? TIA!

you are using the place command? you can delete them if you want but you don't get the benefits of it being a smart object because you cant go back and edit the source anymore. I guess that was what you were asking?

Thats what I needed to know, thanks! My wife just started a new job and she is new to indesign and photoshop which is why I have been asking all of these questions lately for her, I really appreciate everyones help! I just posted another "project" in the other thread I started if you feel especially generous today. Thanks again!

It's not a design job, it's a marketing job, but they fired the girl who did design since my wife can do most of the stuff they need done, she can do basic photoshop and indesign and that is 99% of what they need. If she asks for anything else I am just gonna throw some $ in a PayPal account and pay one of you guys per job for her until she figures it out since I hate asking for free work.

Well in that case, I would be happy to help whatever you need. I am a graphic design student looking to build my portfolio.

there is a links panel in Indd and you can always check that to see where the files are linked, if they are linked etc.

InDesign is VERY similar to that of MS Publisher - very simple to use with tons more options obviously. I designed and assembled our company brochure on it - the toughest part was deciding which type of PDF to export it to b/c there are several options and unless you are familiar with each, you have to research each one.

She'll be just fine. Check into Lynda's tutorials on *cough* some torrent site. I was already very familiar with PS so ID was quite easy to transition to. Good luck
