Game controller for Macbook Pro

I want to purchase GTA: San Andreas from the Mac App store, but I don't want to play it by using the keyboard/mouse. Is there a simple way I could somehow connect a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller to the Macbook and be able to play the game that way? TIA

Just connect a dualshock 3 to the MacBook using Bluetooth.

I tried that and managed to get the controller paired to the macbook via bluetooth, however, the macbook doesn't respond to any button pressing on the controller.
