Who plays it?

For those unaware, it's a massive free FPS by SOE. There are 3 factions fighting over 3 territories via ground/air/vehicle combat.

I just can't get into a shooter that is never ending and has no clear objective.

That is my chief complaint as well. It's a solid game though.

I'll give you that, it definitely gets old in the fact that you spend hours taking territory with no real purpose other than killing lots of people to have it all gone from you in the matter of moments shortly later.

The combat mixtures are awesome though. Having that many people fighting via vehicle/air/infantry keeps it interesting and fun.

Best FPS ever IMO.

Best played with a large organized group.

Nothing comes even close to matching the scale of this game.

I agree. Ive always wanted to play a massive war game that didnt feel "pointless" ever since World War II Online was announced.

I think it may be one of those things. Other types of MMOs dont really have an objective either and i played the shite out of UO and Warcraft for a time.

So any massive multiplayer game is out of the question for you.

Just about any game really falls under this category. It's just a bunch of numbers going up in the backround as you level.

Its futuristic Vietnam.

Fight for a position, leave, then try to recapture it later.

Rinse, repeat.

Damn good though

I love this game. I've never been much of a gamer and absolutely hate all fps games I've ever tried. It may be because I get dizzy and want to throw up the entire 5 minutes I can tolerate it; but needless to say, I've never finished one nor have I bought one.

Well, enter Planetside 2. My daughter and I love Skyrim, so we have a Steam account. But it's pretty much only for that as it is really the only game I ever play. I guess it's sort of FPS, but I always play 3rd person, so I don't get nauseous. Well anyways, I had a slow day one day and was sick of Skyrim, so decided I'd download a free game from Steam to pass some time. I decided on Planetside 2 and now I'm completely hooked.

There is something about getting in a Sunderer or a Galaxy at your home base and riding/flying out to combat with other factions over some beneficial station that gives your faction important resources to fuel the war effort. Once we get to the battle zone everyone empties out to bullets flying over our heads. People are dropping like flies all around you as you try to make your push to capture enemy positions. It feels like your going to war minus the threat of real death. Pride is the only thing that gets hurt in this game.

You can be one of several different classes and each of them have their own little special abilities. There are several different types of vehicles and aircraft, each with their own special abilities. You can choose to specialize or put certs in all of them to one degree or another.

I've seen several posts stating negative things about this game and I really can't understand why. It is without a doubt the most fun I've ever had playing a video game sans Diablo 2. I get so pumped up when I'm playing I don't even feel nauseous.

I'm not in a group/clan and I still love it. I think it would be better if I were in a group and I'll probably end up in one sooner rather than later, but you can have fun even by yourself. You just have to find a platoon that is somewhat organized and has a platoon leader with a clear plan and just do what he says. I've done this many many times and those are by far the best experiences.

The second best experiences have been driving the Magrider as an Engineer and having someone hop on board with you to man the secondary weapon. You get a lot Certs that way because you go kill with your tank, then dart back to cover and repair your vehicle. Works like a charm.

If some of you here wanted to get a group together sometime,I bet we could have some great fun.

nice post Tuck.

It truly offers an excellent fps and massive game experience. The fact that you are enjoying it without a group is impressive. If you could get involved with a clan or group squad to play with it would only multiply your experience and fun level.

I also like the direction that SOE wants to go with this game. Some websearching could quickly educate you on that if you are interested.
