May be moving there and know nothing about what the place has to offer.
I have a 22ft scout dorado (fish and ski boat). Are there places for recreational boating around greater New Orleans? Dry stacks? Inshore fishing?
Need to know if I need to sell boat or if there's a reasonably close place to do those things. I know south LA has great fishing but how close to the city? It may be that I need to forget about the recreational stuff (kids and wife) and trade in for a center console...
Thanks

You will be just fine. I'm sure the NOLA guys will have way more insight, but I wouldn't worry if I were you.

Hopedale/Delacroix/Reggio are about an hour from the city, you can also fish port sulfur/mrtyle grove/Venice. You can go recreational boating in the lake, about a 10 minute drive at most from the city. If I was in your situation, I would trade in for a center console, you can still do pleasure boating. Only dry storage I know of in the city is sea brook harbor. If you have never fished la get ready, some of the best if not the best in the country.

There are dry stacks near seabrook (in town) and you can fish the lake or Bienvenue marshes easily from there. Several other launches outside town have storage as well.
there is good freshwater fishing and the best saltwater fishing all within two hours of town.
Your boat will work fine, but a 22-24 ft cc bay boat works out better if you fish a lot.

There's places all over the New Orleans area. First, you've got Lake Pontchartrain. Plenty of room for pleasure cruising in that boat.

East of the city you have Bayou Bienvenue/Intracoastal Waterway/Rigolets/Lake Borgne/Delacroix/Hopedale for fishing and pleasure cruising. South of the city you have Lafitte/Port Sulpher/Venice for fishing. To the west you have Lake Maurepas where all the local "water-bound meat-heads" venture to run their cigarette boats and other high performance behemoths!

You won't be able to get into the shallow bays, bayous and cuts with that thing but you'll be fine.

Yeah seabrook harbor looks pretty close to Lakeview and looks like ill be able to access lake pontchartrain and lake borgne from that marina. V-hull is nice for the waves but very hard to to fish shores and creeks

That boat is perfect for Lake Pont. Nice high sides and stable. Lake P can get very rough very quickly

Yep. You'll be able to go through the industrial canal to the Intracoastal and get to anywhere east(bayou bienvenue, rigolets, lake borgne, or even Biloxi Marsh if you want to burn a lot of fuel). or go out into the lake and fish the bridges (causeway, I-10, Hwy 11). As Tiger79 stated, that boat will be perfect for Lake P. It can get choppy and wavy very quick. Average depth for the lake is like 9-10ft so when the wind picks up, the waves come quick.
