re: Who are some guys that might jump into the top 14 picks who are not expected to?Posted by CocoLoco on 2/18/13 at 4:38 pm to Brettesaurus Rex
The QB scenario, and a team biting on one depends a lot on their pro days and combine. Would be great for the Saints if 2 quarterbacks were to really perform well for scouts.

The past two years have been great for skill position players. This years draft is loaded on both sides of the line. I do think their will be two skill positions taken in top 14. So this will give us a better chance at one of the top 5 OLB.

Jake Locker
He didn't really go higher than projected.

Christian Ponder
That was a shocker, but he's turning out to be a better pick than most thought.

Blaine Gabbert
That's Jacksonville. That one really doesn't count. Although, it's Jacksonville, they may trade up and draft another QB this year.

extremely weak FA class where your best option might be Alex Smith and a draft class not strong at all.
I think that's the problem this year. If I was a GM, I'd be looking to shore up my team with other players this year and go after a QB in the next year or two.

I'd go-
Top 14
Geno Smith 100%
Barkley 60%
Glennon 33%
other QB 10%
I'd say 1 QB 100%, 2 QBs 60%, 3 QBs 20%
This should be a lot clearer after free agency
Surprises (at this point) up into the Top 14 Candidates
Kenny Vaccaro
Xavier Rhodes, I have Milliner 100%
one WR between Patterson & Allen 100%, a 2nd WR 25%
Lane Johnson 40% , Joeckel & Fisher at 100%
DT could have some shakeout from the Combine, I go Lotulelei & Richardson at 100%, Floyd and Hankins could both go or not, go 50% on both
20% on one ILB, either Teo, Ogletree, or Minter
I have Mingo at 90% there now
Ansah could but doubt it as raw as he is, 25%

If anyone jumps up, it will probably be a guy link Mingo or Ansah who will kill it at the combine.
