Me either. I remember watching that race. He hit the wall and I said "Wow that was a hard hit" but nothing unusual. We left the house to go shopping and came home later to see the horrible news on ESPN

When I saw it on ESPN I just stood there in shock. Couldn't believe it.

I was workin nights that weekend and left shortly after the crash.Like yall,I knew it was a hard hit but saw him walk away from much worse.I carried a pager at the time and my dad paged me with 911.Hearing that he didnt survive was the last thing I expected him to tell me.It was a sad day.

I was in the infield on turn 1.. After the race everybody in the infield was cooking out and drinking like normal but once they announced it over the intercom it was dead silent... hard to explain it.

It sucked because there was a black flag that race and all the cars were lined up in front of where we were in turn 1 and Dale Sr. and Jr. were side by side. I was going to take a picture but was too lazy to run back to the RV.

Really wish I would have now...
