I always put optical drives in a PC, even if it's just a $15 DVD combo drive. Pennies compared to everything else that goes into a system, and it's still convenient for those times (rare, perhaps) you need it. I have a blu-ray burner myself, since My PC is connected to two TVs as well.

But I hang on to old technology longer than others. I still kept a floppy drive around until about 2006.

all of this. I didn't get an optical drive with my build. Seemed pointless for something that I would only use 1 time.

you mobo will come with a couple sata cables so youre probably good there. Aftermarket Cpu coolers come with thermal paste. Case comes with all the screws and brackets to install your components. You should be good.

I bought some sleeved extension cables for everything. Everything is color co-ordinated and helps keep cable management neat. But that's just personal preference. But I would get an extension for the 8 pin CPU power, some times you really have to stretch those.

you shouldnt have to stretch too much if youre fitting into a define r4. mine fits easily enough.

Bitfenix makes nice extension cables. You also might want to look into fans.
